GM’s Numbers are Positive
February 14, 2010The new year is proving to be a better start for GM. CheersandGears.com reported that for the month of January, GM dealers had 146,825 total sales (including other brands), representing a total sales increase of 14 percent from the previous year.
“This is the fourth month in a row that Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac have shown a collective year-over-year retail sales increase,” said Susan Docherty, GM vice president, Sales, Service and Marketing. “Our long-term plan to continue to focus and strengthen our brands is delivering results.”
Some other facts you might want to know.
The Chevrolet Malibu has been A Consumers Digest Best Buy for 2009 and 2010 model years and beat out Toyota Camry and Ford Fusion for January sales. Not only has it been acclaimed critically, but it beats out Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Ford Fusion with its 33 MPG highway. See a complete overview of the Malibu here, with comparisons, accolades, and reviews.
In their first year, GM Crossovers, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain, have become the second best-selling crossovers in the industry (cheersandgears.com).
Chevrolet dealers sold 5, 371 Camaros. This is the eighth straight month it has outsold Mustang.
Equinox sales were up 67%.
The GMC Terrain nearly tripled the sales of the Pontiac Torrent that it replaced and beat out the Ford Flex by 3, 272 more sales.
Buick LaCrosse gained market share with retail sales of 142%.

We’re All In It Together
June 8, 2009According to data taken from the Associated Press compiled on June 2, 2009, we see revealed some real surprises. Sales for May 2009 versus sales for April 2009, for U.S. registrations only, rose by 13%. Even amongst all the gloom and doom preached on the air waves for the American Big Three, and particularly GM and Chrysler in their bankruptcy situations, domestics faired well against the media darling imports. GM sales were up 11% for the April to May period. Industry wide, sales for all brands were down significantly from last year. Look closely at the results below:
Sales reductions for May 2009 vs. May 2008
Ford 24%
GM 30%
Nissan 33%
Toyota 41%
Honda 41%
Chrysler 47%
The facts speak for themselves here; the economy has hit all of the entire automotive industry hard—not just one or two companies. A better economy is necessary for us as businesses to all do well, and during tough times we all suffer together. It is not an import or domestic only problem but a poor economy precipitant.
Let’s all strive together to get our nation back on track. We must support each other. No one else is going to do it for us. God Bless America.
